Behobia-San Sebastian race

Every year on second Sunday in November, tens of thousands of people come to Gipuzkoa from different countries to take part in the traditional 20 km race. The route begins in the Behobia disctrict that borders with France and ends on a boulevard in the heart of San Sebastian. This event has lasted for more than 50 years and brings great excitement to local residents, for whom it is a real holiday. Many people line up along the entire route to support the race participants with posters, applause and cheering.
The number of people who want to run Beobia-San Sebastian increases every year, exceeded 25,000 in 2017. To become a participant of the race, you need to register on the official website of the event: www.behobia-sansebastian.com . There are four classifications: regular race, roller skating, competitions for people with disabilities and for minors. In addition, registration takes place in accordance with seven age categories. You can participate in the race even if you are more than 70, you only need to warn the organizers. On average, the cost of participation in the standard classification is 45 Euro. You can also contribute to various promotions and charity programs additionally to the registration fee.
After the race is over, everyone goes to celebrate the event in the numerous bars and restaurants of the city. There you can see people in sport outfits with medals and participant numbers or in funny costumes, in which some people run the race to entertain themselves and fans.
