Starting from 1981, San Sebastian holds the classic one-day bicycle race, which is part of the elite road cycling tour (UCI World Tour). The race begins and ends in the capital of the province Gipuzkua, while its main part runs along the coast. Race mileage is determined each year but, on average, it is about 230km. One of the most difficult parts of the race is the ascent to the Heiskibel mountain with a height of more than 580 meters. locals and fans who come from different corners of the world to support the world stars cheer for athletes along the entire route.
